FlyRoute Operations: 2A Football Championships & Happy Thanksgiving!

The original aerial view: a turkey. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at FlyRoute.

Wishing all of our teams, pilots, and partners a very Happy Thanksgiving. We are grateful for each one of you, and we wish you and your family a very blessed holiday.

This week, FlyRoute Denver is honored to support Wellington Football in the 2A State Championship game this Saturday, November 30th 5:00 PM at Dutch Clark Stadium in Pueblo, Colorado.

Wellington High School is making waves in the news. Openings its doors only two years ago, and one win from the state championship title, the team will have a chance to tie for the youngest Colorado school to ever win a football state title (Eaglecrest HS in 1993). The old iteration of Wellington High School won the state titles in 6-man football over 70 years ago, in 1952 and 1953.

FlyRoute Denver Pilot, Ben Champe

Special recognition is due this week for one of our drone pilots. Last Friday, a power outage shut down the stadium lights at Halftime Help Stadium in Littleton, Colorado. Mountain Vista and Fairview had just completed the first half when this occurred. To everyone's surprise, the game was moved to EchoPark Stadium with the second half beginning around 10:30 PM and concluded close to midnight. Fairview's drone pilot, Ben Champe, stuck with it and continued flying the game at the new location. Way to go - Ben! Your dedication to FlyRoute and Fairview bring great credit to yourself.

FlyRoute Drone Film Used for Live TV Sports Broadcast With AltitudeSports

FlyRoute was honored to provide in-game drone coverage on live television for the 2023 5A Colorado High School Football State Championship game. Thanks to the partnership with AltitudeSports, FlyRoute used a fiber-optic cable network within Colorado State University's Canvas Stadium in order to provide high definition aerial video to the AltitudeSports broadcasting truck.

The aerial drone perspective provides at-home viewers with a unique view of the live in-game footage. The vantage allows viewers to see a high and wide all-22 athlete perspective that is not manageable to achieve from any other traditional camera angle. It is jokingly referred to as the "Madden perspective" because it is a similar view to the popular NFL football video game.

In addition to in-game footage for live television broadcast, the drone view is useful for half-time and pre-game beauty shots of the stadium, dynamic shots of the crowd, pulling away from sideline interviews, showcasing city views, and more.

About AltitudeSports: an American regional sports cable and satellite television channel owned by Stan Kroenke's Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. The channel holds broadcast rights to the three Denver-based professional sports teams – the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, and the National Lacrosse League's Colorado Mammoth.
